Diabetes

We offer a full range of services for patients living with Diabetes, including lifestyle advice and regular reviews with our Doctors and practices nurses.

Diabetic patients are also offered diabetic eye-screening (not done on-site).

Medical Examinations

Our priority is NHS work. However, the Doctors are happy to offer non-NHS services to patients by appointment. These include private sick notes; adoption/pre-employment/fostering/HGV and driving medicals; insurance medicals; ‘To Whom It May Concern’ letters.

The receptionists can advise you of the charges for these services.

Teenagers/Young Adults


We appreciate your special needs at this challenging time of life, and we’re here to help you.

There are many issues which concern young adults and teenagers, and these could relate to:

  • Acne
  • Alcohol
  • Contraception
  • Drugs
  • Sexual Health
  • Smoking
  • Stress

Please come along and discuss your needs with the doctor or nurse as you feel able. Conversations and decisions ARE CONFIDENTIAL. Remember, we have female doctors available.

Patients Over 75 Years

If you are aged 75 years or over and not seen regularly for any on-going medical problems, you should be seen annually either by your Doctor, the Practice Nurse or District Nurse. This can be arranged at the surgery or, if that is not possible, a home visit can be arranged.

Dementia Screening

The Doctors will discuss any concerns you may have regarding Dementia, please book an appointment.

Minor Surgery

Dr Noshad Khan can carry out minor surgical procedures such as removal of moles or skin tags by excision or cautery at Elsenham Surgery. Minor Surgery sessions are run regularly by appointment.

The Doctors will be happy to advise you on this.

Antenatal Clinic

Patients are seen by the Doctors during surgery hours. All the Doctors provide antenatal care and work closely with the Midwives and Health Visitors to care for you and your baby.

Asthma

We offer a full range of Asthma management services, including regular check ups with our Asthma nurse.

Staying Healthy

To provide quality care we operate a number of recall systems. Invitations are regularly sent out if you are taking medication that requires monitoring.

We follow national guidelines in the monitoring of chronic diseases. Most of this is done by our Practice Nurses under the direction of the Doctors. You may receive a telephone call or letter asking you to make an appointment.

Annual monitoring of blood pressure and lifestyle advice is available for all patients over 16 years from our Practice Nurses.

Family Planning / Sexual Health


We provide the full range of contraceptive and sexual health services so that we are able to meet your individual needs. Most routine contraceptive care can be provided by the Practice Nurse or Doctor appointment system.

Smoking Cessation

Elsenham Surgery offers smoking cessation advice to all patients on a one-to-one basis. There are many products available and all the help you need to kick the habit.
